The scheme is designed to help the economically weaker women as well as those whose husbands have died. The direct beneficiaries of this scheme are widows. This plan requires some documents. Initially, under this scheme, widows are given a pension of Rs. 300 However, the government has increased this amount to Rs 500. Beneficiaries now get Rs 500 under this scheme.
Only Widows will benefit
Only widows will benefit under this scheme. The widow must be between 18 and 60 years of age to avail the benefits of the scheme. If a widow has children and is struggling to support herself, she is eligible for a pension. If a widow remarries, she will not be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.
